She was predeceased by: her parents, Louis Schmidt and Caroline Schmidt (Hopp); her husband Mervin Von Ahsen; her daughter Paulette Bates; her children-in-law, Bonnie Von Ahsen and Jack Mekus; and her siblings, Harlan, Oren, Wayne Schmidt and Arlene Sanderfeld.
She is survived by: her children, Connie Mekus of Des Moines, Sheryl Boughton (David) of Williamsburg and Neal Von Ahsen (Sharon) of Des Moines; her son-in-law Tom Bates of Wautauga, Texas; and her sisters-in-law, Lorena Joseph of Columbus, Neb and Helen Von Ahsen of Newhall. She is also survived by five grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.
