He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert and Mary Sullivan Sr. (Duffy); his wife Phyllis Frembgen; his children, Laura Berg, John Sullivan and James Sullivan; and his siblings, Rita, Ellen and Joseph.

He is survived by: his children, Thomas Sullivan (Kimberley) of Sioux Falls and Susan Berg (David) of Vermillion; and his daughter-in-law Ann Sullivan. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
