He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar DeVries and Gertrude DeVries (Mulder); his sister Gert Van Roekel; and his brothers-in-law, Arie Kiel, Abe Van Roekel and John Kooistra.
He is survived by: his wife Linda (Den Hartog); his children, Michael (Karen) of Alvord, IA, Shawn of Doon, IA, Seth (Kari) of Doon, IA and Sarah Altena (Tim) of Garretson, SD; his grandchildren, Abigail, Matthew, John, Amanda DeVries Seth (Li'l), Ethan and Christian DeVries; his great grandchild Nathan Burgus; and his siblings, Oscar (Lori) of Sioux Falls, SD, Arlene Kooistra of Hills, MN and Joyce Tracy (John) of Marionville, MO.
