He was predeceased by: his parents, James Deitch and Zella Deitch; and his siblings, Evelyn, Dr. E. Russell Deitch and George Deitch.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his children, Gregory Deitch and Susan Butzen (Steve); and his sister Mary Lou Cubit. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
