He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Wentzel and Hattie Wentzel (Dirksen); his siblings, Robert, Marvin, Clifford, Verna and Lawrence; and his grandchildren, Teacy Schramm and Stephanie Madsen.
He is survived by: his sister Carol Graber of Lennox, SD; his children, Bob Wentzel (Linda) of Huntington Beach, CA, Mike Wentzel of Mosinee, WI, Debra Crawford (Michael) of Mauston, WI, John Cole of Florence, WI, Penny Krantz (John) of Des Moines, IA, Donald Cole (Hang) of Des Moines, IA and Pam Sydow (Jim) of Minocqua, WI.; and his grandchildren, Kim Williams (Chris), Cindi Spence (David), Tracy Cole, John "Andy" Cole, Jake Cole of Kendall, Adam Madsen (Julia) and Minh Tran. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren and 4 great- great grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to Lutheran Church of the Cross in Altoona.
