He is survived by: his siblings, Janet Masteller of Sioux City, Maria Rosmann (Ron) of Harlan, Iowa and Tom Vakulskas (Barb) of Sioux City. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

“In loving memory of John A. Vakulskas Jr., Someone so special will not be forgotten. I got to know Father John at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Ruskin, Florida. I always enjoyed his homilies so much. He even took time to pray with me for a special intention after mass one day. I kept in touch with him by sending him a Christmas card and Easter card every year. He always responded with a hand-written note of kindness. He always went out of his way to help others. He will be greatly missed!”
