It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James H. Van Roekel (Alton, Iowa), who passed away on October 21, 2020, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Roekel and Sarah Van Roekel (Te Grotenhuis); his wife Erma Jean Van Wyk; and his brothers, Gershom Van Roekel, Warren Van Roekel and Merle Van Roekel.
He is survived by: his daughters, Ruth (Tim Nelson) and Mary (Mark Den Hartigh); his grandchildren, Michael Nelson of Johnston, Anna (David Jabbari) of Tiffin, Sarah Nelson of Madison, Wisconsin, Matthew Den Hartigh (Michelle) of Minneapolis and Ashley Den Hartigh of Minneapolis; his great grandchildren, Luke and Ella; and also, Clinton Van Roekel of Sheldon and Arlin Van Roekel of Waukee.
The memorial gifts in lieu of flowers will be given to the Western Theological Seminary for the student scholarship fund in memory of James and Erma Van Roekel.
