He was predeceased by: his parents, Arend C. Wassink and Rosella Wassink (Blankespoor); and his brother-in-law Gerald Folkerts. He is survived by: his wife Debra Angela Korver of Alton; his son Matthew (Katie); his grandchildren, Case, Sadie, Lincoln, Stella and Maverick of Arden Hills, Minnesota; his son Ryan (Kari); his grandchildren, Jayden, Roman and Josie of Stillwater, Minnesota; and his sisters, Jan (Roger Alons) of Troy, Illinois, Hilaine (Roger Kempema) of Rock Valley, Gloria (Ken Van Wye) of Stanton and Arlis Folkerts of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wassink Track and Field Scholarship Fund at Northwestern College.
