With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Lois D. McDowell of Allison, Iowa, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Lois left this world on July 24, 2024 at the age of 93, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul DeBower Jr. and Mary DeBower (Rodenbeck, family: Allison); her husband C. William McDowell; her sister Joyce Leerhoff; her son-in-law Dan Smith; and her sister-in-law Mable Neal.
She is survived by: her children, William Paul McDowell (Lori) of Coralville, Deborah Kay McDowell of Iowa City and Carol Marie Smith of Hudson, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Morgan Lois McDowell and Cody William Smith; her sister Janice Grapp; and her brothers-in-law, Raymond Grapp and Vernon Leerhoff. She is also survived by eight nieces and two nephews.
She taught bible school, Sunday school and was involved with Mary Circle, Garden Club, American Legion Auxiliary, American Cancer Society, Scholarship Committee, Wilder Park board and a Trees Forever cub scout and girl scout leader.
