He was predeceased by: his parents, Allison J. Deist and Ollivene F. Deist (Kauffman); his daughter Melissa Ann Deist; his siblings, Mary (Roger Winther), John Paul Deist and Jerry Deist; his brother-in-law Dan Brownsberger; and his great grandchild Sloan Lyn.
He is survived by: his sister Dottie Brownsberger of Oakland; his sisters-in-law, Margie Deist of Audubon and Carlene Deist of Ankeny; his half-sister Deb Murphy of Des Moines; his children, Nina Deist of Audubon, Iowa, Kendra (Nathan Bladt) of Audubon, Iowa and Chad (Jennifer Deist) of Audubon, Iowa; his grandchildren, Allisen Deist (Tyson Petersen) of Pleasant Hill, Melissa Leann Deist (Dylan Lollie) of Port Orange, Keegan Deist (Audrey Jensen) of Audubon, Javyn Bladt (Isabelle Glomski) of Johnston, Adelyn Bladt of Audubon and Irelyn Bladt of Audubon; and his great grandchild Kaden Fransen of Pleasant Hill, Iowa. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 30th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home - Audubon (515 S Division St, Audubon, IA 50025). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 31st 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church (326 Leroy St, Audubon, IA 50025). A committal service was held on Thursday, October 31st 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM at the Maple Grove Cemetery. A reception was held on Thursday, October 31st 2024 from 12:15 PM to 1:45 PM at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church (326 Leroy St, Audubon, IA 50025).
