It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Gene Leclaire Chinander of Allison, Iowa, who passed away on October 14, 2021, at the age of 69, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lowell Chinander and Geraldine Chinander (Ashlock); his brother-in-law Richard Melhus; his brothers, Ivan and Terry; and his friend Rex Brunner.
He is survived by: his wife Ann Melhus; his sons, Erik (Megan), Bret (Traci) and Stacy (Sarah); his brother Gary Davenport (Kathy); his grandchildren, Teagan, Bowen, Penelope, Sophia, Julia and Ripp; his brothers, Richard (JoAnn) and Scott (Nancy); and his sisters-in-law, Barbara Melhus and Melissa Peterson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent or taken to the Lincoln Savings Bank in Allison or Greene to fund a scholarship in Gene's name for a North Butler student who plans to teach and coach. A GoFundMe account has been established for this cause as well: https://gofund.me.
