He was predeceased by: his parents, Ancil Shoup and Goldie Shoup (Woosley); his wife Wanda Farner; and his siblings, Lorene Waters, Robert Shoup and Donna Pruitt.

He is survived by: his children, Patricia, William (Secor) and Benjamin Jr.; and his brother-in-law Carroll Pruitt.
