He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell H. Chase and Janet C. Chase (Brantner); his wife Margaret Lorain Brown; his daughter Dale Umbaugh (Charles); and his grandson Bret Chase.
He is survived by: his children, Crystal Winkler of Missouri Valley, Iowa and Richard Chase Jr. (Karen) of St. Benedict, Iowa. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
