It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lucy K. DeRoos of Algona, Iowa, born in Hospers, Iowa, who passed away on July 27, 2023, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clemens Schmit and Mathilda Schmit (Gloden); her husband Dewain DeRoos; her siblings, Harold Schmit, Bernice Block and Eleanor Marie Schmit; and her siblings-in-law, Oscar Block, Germaine Schmit and Clarice Schmit.
She is survived by: her children, Kevin DeRoos (Jennifer) of Dallas Center, Alan DeRoos (Tina) of Algona, Pam Fett (Drew) of Thompson and Jason DeRoos (Mary); her grandchildren, Caleb DeRoos, Jessie Redmann, Colby Fett, Ryan Fett, Erin Fett, Alec Fett, Jordan DeRoos and Cameron DeRoos; her siblings, Sylvester Schmit of Hospers, Cyril Schmit of Remsen and Geraldine Den Hartog Hospers; and her sister-in-law Beatrice Schmit of Hospers. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family members.
