He is survived by: his wife Pat of Algona; his children, Julie Opdahl of Norwalk, Douglas Elbert (Jennifer) of Grimes, Steven Elbert, Jolene Lensing (John) of Clive and Christie Berte (Curt) of Livermore; his grandchildren, Jenna Dickinson (Garrett), Brett Opdahl (Lydia) of Grimes, Cody Elbert of Iowa City, Tom Lensing of Des Moines, Sheridan Eick (Bryce) of Waverly, Nick Lensing (Anna) of Des Moines, Victor Berte (Christine) of LuVerne, Spencer Elbert of Des Moines, Anna Lensing, Donovan Berte of Waverly and Rozlyn Elbert of Ames; his siblings, Helen Casey and Ray; and his sisters-in-law, Carrie Elbert and Rosie Elbert. He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
