He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Knoer and Nellie Knoer; his wife Thelma Gronbach; his siblings, Marjorie Northrup and Richard Knoer; his parents-in-law, Fred and Minnie Gronbach; his siblings-in-law, Lee Gronbach (Fern), Donna Lemkee and Annabelle Long (Glen); and his son-in-law Brett Benson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Debra Meyer (Terry) of Rochester, MN, Diane Avery of Des Moines, IA, Cheryl Benson of Crystal, MN and Cindy Knoer of Des Moines, IA; his grandchildren, Andy Vitzthum (Kari), David Meyer (Dyana), Nicholas Avery (Kelli), Jacob Avery (Kristin), Amy Sleiter (Ty), Jennifer Traub (Brad) and Julie Stebbins (Brandon); and his sister-in-law Tallie Knoer. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
