He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Owens and Esley Ann Owens (Shives); his parents-in-law, Jerry and Virginia Jennings; and his brother-in-law Jeff Brogan.

He is survived by: his wife Deb Brogan of Algona; his son Jamie Owens of Algona; his grandchildren, Matthew, Caitlyn and Abby; his daughter Melissa Carr (Nate) of Algona; his grandchildren, Mason, Zack and Allee; and his parents-in-law, Bob and Sharon Brogan. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
