With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Norman Barkema of Alexander, Iowa, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Norman left this world on October 25, 2024 at the age of 76, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Barkema and Verla Barkema of Alexander; his grandson Colton; his siblings-in-law, Cheryl and Sivam; and his in-laws, Mary and Fred Gentz.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his sons, Michel (Patrick) and Doug (Summer); his grandchildren, Aaron Gude, Norah Barkema and Quinn Barkema; and his siblings, Marjorie, Dorothy, Donald and Duane (Diane). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the First Reformed Church (214 Brown St, Alexander, IA 50420). A memorial service was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location. The inurnment was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 at the Alexander Cemetery.
