Shirley JoeAnn left this world on March 23, 2025 at the age of 89, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Coatney and Margaret Coatney (Adams); her husband Jackie Lee Fry Sr.; her children, Jackie Lee Fry Jr. and Sabrina LuAnn Hopkins (Fry); her granddaughter Stephanie Hopkins; and her siblings, Russell Coatney, Doyle Frances Coatney, Ruby Kuzik (Coatney), Julia Mooney (Coatney), Wanda Strange (Schaffer), Glada Hall (Schaffer), Doris Mahan (Schaffer), Franklin Schaffer, Clayton Schaffer, Darriel Lee Coatney, Janite Holmes (Coatney), Jerry Coatney and Ruth Arnold (Coatney).
She is survived by: her sister Bonnie Coatney Amundson; her son James "Bucky" Fry (Mary Pat); and her granddaughters, Tina Vosberg (Ryan) and Melissa Dennison (Tim). She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 4th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Tharp Funeral Home (116 Benton Ave E, Albia, IA 52531). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Make A Wish Foundation that Shirley was very fond of.
