He is survived by: his wife Kathy Murphy; his children, Douglas Zars of Rochester, Deanna Stabenow (Eric) of Des Moines and Shannon McGee (Patrick) of Rockford, Illinois; and his siblings, Barbara Buhr (Gary) of Readlyn, Sheryl Tiedt (John) of Readlyn, Roger Zars of Readlyn, Larry Zars (Ida) of Denver and Steven Zars (Jackie) of Waverly, Iowa. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews cousins, and friends.
