He was predeceased by: his father Raymond Griffin; his siblings-in-law, Brad Patton, Jim Flahive, Ed Murphy and Diane Flahive; and his nephew Shawn Shaffer.

He is survived by: his mother Marie Griffin (Kosman); his wife Janet Bettis; his children, Kim Powell (KC) and Nick Griffin (Lindsey); his grandchildren, Addison, Ellerson, Emmerson Powell, Henry and Finley Griffin; his siblings, Jerry Griffin (Linda), Joyce Robinson (Gilbert), Patty See, Dave Griffin (Cheryl), Donnie Griffin (Sherri), Robert Griffin (Carla) and Denise Patton; and his in-laws, Susan Murphy and Elaine Griffin (Del). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Tharp Funeral Home (116 Benton Ave E, Albia, IA 52531). A rosary was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (730 W Benton Ave, Albia, IA 52531).
