It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Philip Dean Whitson of Albia, Iowa, who passed away on November 12, 2021, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Philip Dean Whitson to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Whitson and Alberta Whitson (Sebben); his brothers, Jerry and Steve Whitson; and his brother-in-law Jim Plum.

He is survived by: his wife Diane G. Smith of Avery; his children, Cheri Kasella (Jim) of Elmhurst, IL and Chris Whitson (Gia Tornabene) of Albia; his grandchildren, Charlie and Olivia Kasella; and his siblings, Larry Whitson (Phyllis), Carolyn Plum and Wayne Whitson. He is also survived by extended family and friends.

A memorial has been established to the Welcome Home Soldier Monument in Albia.
