He was predeceased by: his wife Joanne Kelley; his son Bob Weir; and his parents, John E. Weir and Ruth Weir. He is survived by: his children, Bernie Weir, Joni Weir (Wayne Norden), Annie Klebe (Bob), Jim Weir (Bea), Mike Weir (Tracy) and Kelley Hulgan (Tim); his daughter-in-law Paulette Weir; and his friend Charlotte Raley. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Iowa Association of the Blind.
