She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Henry "Johnny" and Cora Alice Bates (Fisher); her husband Jake; her brother Donald Spurgin; her son-in-law Guy Sample; and her siblings-in-law, Marjorie Gorsuch and Donald Cook.
She is survived by: her children, Sheila Sample of Albia, Mark Jacobs of Albia and John Jacobs (Selena) of Ottumwa; her grandchildren, Guy Jr. Sample (Tara), Amy Kaster (Travis), Samuel Jacobs (Courtney Burgess), Elijah Jacobs and Gabriel Jacobs; her great grandchildren, Trey Sample, Guy Sample III, Gus Sample, Olivia Kaster and Josiah Kaster; and her sister-in-law Helen Cook. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Albia Trinity Church and the Monroe County Fairgrounds.
