He was predeceased by: his parents, Alpha Regina Hitzemann (Johnson) and Adolph Hitzemann; his sister Margaret Hartman (Norman); and his parents-in-law, Don Vipond (Betty) and Shirley Anderberg (Norman).
He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Vipond of Akron; his children, Gerald Hitzemann of Akron and Renee Benning (Bill) of Plainfield, IA; his grandchildren, Leanne Hitzemann of Kemp, TX and Levi Benning (Trista) of Plainfield, IA; and his sister-in-law Verla Anderberg (Herb) of Yankton, SD. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
