He was predeceased by: his parents, John Lanning and Clara Lanning (Warren); his brothers, Ronald, Buck, Robert and Bobby; and his brother-in-law Dellis Dimmick.

He is survived by: his spouse Judy of Akron; his children, Tammy Fuller (Mark) of Williston, ND, Mandy Taggert (Andy Schreibner) of Ida Grove, IA and Mitchal Lanning (Jenell) of Akron; his grandchildren, Perry James Houts, Allie Macedo (Heriberto), Holly Behrens (Austin), Emily Sour (Chris) and John David Lanning (Jalyssa Frerichs); and his sister Patsy Dimmick of Akron. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
