He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas Sr. Carlson and LaVerne Carlson (Watterson); his parents-in-law, Frank and Mildred Johnson; his siblings, Richard Carlson, Jeanne Carlson and Dan Carlson; his siblings-in-law, Kenny Johns, Kenny Stultz, Brad Bigelow, Marlin Johnson (Elaine) and Sharyl Calvert (Don); and his uncle Dave Hanson.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen Carlson; his children, Steve Carlson (Jacqueline) of Westfield, IA, Sharyl Black (Jim) of Dakota Dunes, SD and Cari Brogden (Mike) of Liberty, MO; his grandchildren, Christopher Carlson (Stephanie), Caitlyn Wilson (Jake), Kevin Carlson (Kortney), Katie Thoren (Jake), Jared Black, Ty Brogden, Cal Brogden and Jase Brogden; his great grandchildren, Barrett, Beau, Waylon, Avery, Drake, Brock and Noah; his daughter Rhonda Carlson; his grandchild Lacey; his siblings, Mary Jane Johns, Carolyn Stultz-Kempema (Jerry), Kathy Brunsting (Denny), Sandy Welch (Leo), Cheri Sander (Denny) and Laurie Blanchard (Mike); his sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Carlson and Karen Bigelow; his aunt Phyllis Hanson; and also Dennis Johnson (Carol). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
