He was predeceased by: his nieces, Julie Ann Lee and Sammantha Dawn Schmelzer; his stepfather Arthur Beard; and his grandparents, Otto, Nellie Hansen, Don and Zula Meekham.
He is survived by: his siblings, Emmitt, Dougal, Lily, Tessa and Maddie; his parents, Marty Beard of Marion, IA and Jim Hansen (Sherrie Hazen) of Ainsworth, IA; his sister Jennifer Schmelzer (Michael) of Muscatine, IA; his stepsiblings, Allison Hazen-Barnes (John) of Fairfax, IA and Rob Hazen (Jill) of Walford, IA.; and his close friends, Byron and Jennifer Poole. He is also survived by Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested a donation be made to the American Heart Association or to a general memorial for Jim.
