He was predeceased by: his parents, Vern Smith and Letha Landers Smith; and his wife Grace Nordyke. He is survived by: his children, Richard Smith (Donna) of Agency, IA, Debra Ritz (Rodney) of Batavia, IA and Vernon Smith of Agency, IA; his grandchildren, Tabatha Hartley, Courtney Waddle (Cody) and Shelby Smith (Alex Felland); and his great grandchildren, Logan Ables, Addison Ables and Aelyn Waddle. He is also survived by his family and friends.

Memorial contributions in Raymond's honor may be directed to the Abingdon Cemetery Association or to the Stead Family Children's Hospital.
