He is survived by: his children, Eunice Muramoto of Hilo, Gay Heaukulani (David) of Hilo and Lincoln Ashida (Jonna) of Hilo; his significant other Gloria Castillo of Papaikou; his siblings, Masaye Kuwahara of Hilo, Sally Bushaw of Honolulu, Mildred Takahashi (Michio) of California and George Ashida of Honolulu; and his siblings-in-law, Arlene Ashida of Hilo and Harold Otsu of Las Vegas. He is also survived by six grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
