He is survived by: his former wife Amy Nishio; his wife Linda Michie; his former wife Amy Asaye; his children, Peter (Shaughn), Jamie Lahey (Stephen) and Olivier; his grandchildren, Diane (Yoann), Natacha, Violet, Charlotte, Kohana and Matea; and his great grandchild Gabriela.

“So sorry for your loss. Mathew was so special and unique. He helped Gwee become a decent woodworker. I remember hanging out with him regularly, listening to the music of Ernie Washington, sitting on his boat, and the lost opportunity I had to sail with him to California as the cook because I was afraid late for the Fall semester. To Amy and Linda, we truly regret that time has so separated us. To old times and old friends who remain in our memories as long as we have them. Love, Dina & Gwee”
