He was predeceased by: his wife Milagros Sarmiento; and his brothers, Prudencio, Pablo and Pedro Sarmiento. He is survived by: his son Ian Sarmiento (Anne); his grandchildren, Julius Sarmiento, Iana Sarmiento and Maria Sarmiento; and his siblings, Sabina Garcia, Veronica Futalan, Sotera Toledo, Leonila Sarmiento and Nicasio Sarmiento.
