He is survived by: his children, Duane Sugihara (Naomi) of Hilo and Donna Higuchi (Eric) of Hilo; his siblings, James Sugihara (Betty) of Honolulu and Tamako Matsumoto of Kansas; and his siblings-in-law, Doris Sugihara of Hilo, Shizue Sugihara of Honolulu and Tennis Johnson of California. He is also survived by three grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
