It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Steven Luther Hurt of Hilo, Hawaii, born in Oakland, California, who passed away on January 3, 2022, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Sakamoto of Hilo; his daughter Jennifer Nakano of Hilo; his stepchildren, Calvin Chaves, Jr. of Wailuku, Marcus Chaves of Wailuku, Paul Sakamoto of Hilo and Stefanie Sakamoto of Mililani; and his siblings, Daniel Hurt of Gilbert, Lonna Paul of Lexington and Suzanne Hurt of Bastrop, Texas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
