He is survived by: his wife Collene Van Arkel of Hilo; his children, Kevin Van Arkel of San Francisco, Jeffrey Van Arkel of Oregon, Idamarie Bermudez-Ramey (George) of Hilo, Eric Bermudez of Oklahoma, Edward Bermudez of Hilo, Shondell Bermudez of Hilo and Issac Bermudez of Honolulu; and his brothers, Thomas Van Arkel (Heather) of Bakersfield and Joseph. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
