It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Janet Mae Chavaries in Hilo, Hawaii, who passed away on June 27, 2023, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She is survived by: her close friend Eugene Fernandez of Hilo; her children, Matthew Chavaries (Claudette) of Keaau, Eric Chavaries (Betty) of Hilo and Tara Chavaries of Hilo; her brothers, John DeCoito, Jr. (Joyce) of Pahoa, Patrick DeCoito (Charlotte), George DeCoito (Christy) of Hilo and Russell DeCoito (Toshiko) of Kona; and her brother-in-law John Kepa of Pahoa. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
