He is survived by: his wife Myra I. Aina-Paul of Hilo; his children, Charmaigne Costley (Vernon) of Ogden, Cheryle O'Brien (Brian) of Kailua, Oahu, Cyd Hoffeld (Garry) of Hilo, Craig Makanui (Missy) of Hillsborough, Charlton Makanui (Michele) of Hilo and Charles Liwai Makanui (Mia) of Seattle, Washington; and his brother Donald Paul (Judy) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces; 1 nephew.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 1 p. m. on Saturday (Nov. 14, 2020) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo; Celebration of Life at 1 p. m. Seating limited, masks and social distancing required.
