88, of Hilo, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at residence in Hilo, born on October 23, 1934, Makaweli, Kauai, he was an Army Veteran.and he served in 1953-1956. He was a long-time employee of a Rocket Company, Aerojet, and a Nuclear Utility Plant Company, SMUD, in California, before returning to his Island roots. After retiring, Edward has done everything from opening Penny's Kaukau lunch shop in Papa'ikou, assisting at Hale Kai Bed and Breakfast at Honoli'i Point, to serving as Vice Chair for the RSVP Advisory Council. Since he began volunteering for the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program in 1993, he has done almost every aspect of volunteering that the Elderly Activities Division has to offer. He announced and coached for the Kupuna Softball League, and taught Hanafuda at the Kamana Senior Center. In 2014, he was recognized for his 22 years of volunteer work by achieving the "Outstanding Older Americans Award,"representing the island of Hawaii.. A Celebration of. His Life will be held at a later date. He is survived by wife, : Penny Madamba of Hilo; children, Renate Madamba of Stockton, California, Michael Madamba of Redlands, California , Alan (Mary) Madamba of Rocklin, California and Edward (Sandra) Ane of Sacramento, California; sister, Caridad Villanueva of Stockton, California; three grandchildren, Alana Marie Madamba, Melissa Lynn Madamba and Megan Elizabeth Madamba ; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
