He is survived by: his wife Carol Ann Elwell of Discovery Harbor; his daughters, Kathy Elwell of California and Susanne Elwell of California; and his sister Christine Lunn of England.
Dennis received numerous awards from the National Science Foundation and the Organization of American States.
