He is survived by: his wife Marilou Akamine of Ainaloa; his children, Jake Akamine of Ainaloa and Jamie Sugai (Elliott) of Kurtistown; his mother Dorothy Akamine of Hilo; and his sisters, Karin Akamine of Hilo, Joyce Akamine of Honolulu and Mona Tavares (Fred) of Hilo. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
