He was predeceased by: his parents, John Maxton Blizzard and Sallie Tharpe Blizzard; his daughter Glenda Blizzard Bailey; and his siblings, Herbert Blizzard, Julian Blizzard, Robert Blizzard and Ann Wood.

He is survived by: his wife Tulleen Walden Blizzard of Wrightsville; and his children, Johnny W. Blizzard, Jr. (Sue) of Vidalia, James M. Blizzard (Angela) of Wrightsville, Teresa Blizzard Russell (Terry) of Laurens, SC and Cathy Blizzard Herring of Wrightsville. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
