He is survived by: his mother Doretha Sampson Owens of Tennille, Georgia; his daughters, Faye Owens and Nicole Owens of Savannah, Georgia; his grandchildren, Anwar Abdullah, Sarah Grace Owens and Maya Harkness; his great grandchild Aaliyah Abdullah; his siblings, Robert Owens, Jr. (Waykeshia) of Tennille, James Owens (Joanne) of Sandersville, Lorraine Swint (Marion) of Tennille, Johnny Owens (Sadiah) of Warner Robins, Quinton Owens of Byron, Michael Ownes (Shirley) of Savannah, Sheryl Owens, Ellen Owens of Tennille, Erica and Roberta Owens of Copperas Cove, Texas; his aunts and uncles, Bishop Richard, Janie Sampson of Decatur, Earnest, Mary Sampson of Douglas, Henry Sampson of Pensacola, Martha Abney of Pensacola, Mary D. Thomas of Tennille, Linda Brown of Tennille, Marilyn Maddox of Philadelphia, Helen Raines and Emma D. Amy of Cleveland, Ohio; his partner Zhanna Stargurskaya of Atlanta, Georgia; and his former wife Sara Jean Owens of Savannah. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Clara - Minnie Memorial Chapel. A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Pine Grove AME Church (588 Donovan Rd, Wrightsville, GA 31096).
