He was predeceased by: his wife Janice Elizabeth Dukes Owens; his parents, Ola Mae Moon Owens and Vernon James "V. J."; and his sister Vera Templeton. He is survived by: his sons, Kevin J. Owens (Crystal) and Jason W. Owens (Ashley); his grandchildren, Aiden Woodard, MaKenzie Owens, Hunter Owens, Addisyn Owens, Woodson Owens and Lily Owens; and his siblings, Mary Ann Johnson (Jimmy), Tommy Owens (Revonda), Joyce Williams (Jack), Darlene Williford and Jerry Owens. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Because of the family's concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed as mandated.
Because of the sudden nature of Joey's passing, the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made directly to James Funeral Home, P.O. Box 588, Wrens GA 30833.
