She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Will Smith Walden and Oliver Pilcher Walden; her children, David Samuel Norton Jr. and Mary Frances Norton Walden; her granddaughter Rachel Whittington; and her brothers, Pilcher Walden and Melton Walden.
She is survived by: her daughters, Cherlyn N. Templeton, Donna N. Pacheco, Jackie N. James and Lee N. Long; her grandchildren, Lewis Templeton, Stefanie Irby, Elizabeth Snider, Kim Smith (Clint), Jonathan Miller (Melissa), Alison Miller, Tiffany Johnson (Hank), Todd James (Rebecca), Timothy Norton, Mitchell Whittington and Jessica Prickett (Matt); and her sister Brenda Hobbs. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Because of the family's respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed. The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.
