It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Laura Childs Ackerman of Winterville, Georgia, born in Athens, Georgia, who passed away on March 31, 2024, at the age of 57, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her spouse Jerry W. Ackerman; her parents, Rex Childs and Doris Childs; her children, Nathaniel McGrath and Erin McGrath (Nate Strait); and her siblings, Mark Childs (Kathy), David Childs (Lynne) and Lynda Childs Dunlap.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society (https://secure.braintumor.org) or the Athens Area Humane Society as a tribute to Laura's life.
