He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Asberry Kitchens, Sr. and Dora Roark Kitchens. He is survived by: his wife Ann Kitchens; his sons, Tim Kitchens and Travis Kitchens (Bette); and his grandchildren, Jack Kitchens and Ava Kitchens. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
