He was predeceased by: his mother Thelma Herzog; his stepmother Fran Brown; his sister Pam Brown; and his children, Christopher O'Neal Strickland, Ruth Herrington and Lindsey Whitis.
He is survived by: his father James Brown of Decatur; his close friends, Rockney and Thaddeus; his wife Cathy Brown; his children, Curtis Brown (Melissa), Michael Brown, Dennis Whitis (Karina) and Amy Brown Crowe (Travis); his sisters, Deena Firehammer (Mark) and Sherrie Graves; and his grandchildren, Eli Strickland, Matthew Whitis, Charlotte Whitis, Kayla Brown, Shelby Brown and Wyatt Brown.
