He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Thomas Bowen and Vera Estelle Rutledge Bowen; his children, Ronald Ellington Jr. and Marsha Bryant; and his sister Elaine Edgar.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Abner Bowen; his siblings, Steve Bowen of Winder and Dianne Ivey of Bethlehem; and his granddaughter Tiffany Pfeifer of Winder.
