He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Lee Canup, Sr. and Lula Elizabeth Walden Canup; and his siblings, Henry Canup, Jr., Woody Dean Canup, Ralph Randolph Canup, James Allen Canup, Samuel Douglas "Mack" Canup, Jessie Lee Canup, Bertie Mae Bell, Lanell Etheridge and Betty Griffith.
He is survived by: his son Michael Canup, Sr. (Bridget) of New Bern, NC; his siblings, Donnie Canup (Linda) of Winder, GA, Latrell White of Bethlehem, GA and Anne Hawkins of Winder, GA; his grandchildren, Michael Canup, Jr. of Garner, NC and Gayla Dougherty (Stephen, Jr.) of Brick, NJ; and his great grandchild Madalynn Dougherty of Brick, NJ. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
