It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Lee Hunter of Whigham, Georgia, born in Mitchell, Georgia, who passed away on July 17, 2023, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Issac Scurry, Sr. and Dessie E. Scurry Mercer; her children, Lonnie J. Hunter (Barbara) of Albany, Curtis D. Hunter (Stephanie) of Smyrna, Georgia and Retha M. Byrd; her son-in-law Larry Williams of Cairo, Georgia; her brother Issac Scurry, Jr. (Ann) of Delray Beach, Florida; and her siblings-in-law, Dr. Curtis T. L. Hunter (Georgia) of Ellerslie, Dr. Lorenzo Hunter of Wilmington, Ohio, Mary A. Hunter of Whigham, Willa D. Hunter of Whigham, Emma J. Hunter of Albany, Jahazel Shepherd of Albany, Narrest Gadson of Tallahassee and Rose E. McRae (Sylvester) of Columbus, Georgia. She was also cherished by ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
